The compact kit runs on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, matching NODAR’s flagship 1,000-meter detection range on far less compute.
CAMBRIDGE, MA, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — NODAR, a leader in stereo vision technology, today announced the HDK Nano, a compact version of its Hammerhead Development Kit built to run on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano. The new kit ports NODAR’s full ultra-wide-baseline stereo vision pipeline, previously available only on AGX-class compute, to a smaller, lower-power platform, with kits starting at $9,900.
Until now, long-range stereo vision has required AGX-class compute, putting it out of reach for smaller robots, drones, and other platforms with tight power and payload budgets. HDK Nano recompiles NODAR’s Hammerhead software for the Jetson Orin Nano, preserving the same detection range and accuracy while reducing power draw and compute-platform cost.
HDK Nano ships with factory-calibrated 5.4 MP HDR automotive-grade stereo cameras, built to the baseline and field of view each customer needs, and pairs them with a Jetson Orin Nano preloaded with NODAR’s Hammerhead software. The system detects a 1-meter object at up to 1,000 meters and resolves a 25-centimeter object at 305 meters, matching the range of NODAR’s AGX-based HDK. Cameras mount to a standard T-slot aluminum rail, so customers can adapt the kit to their own platform geometry.
“Long-range stereo has always meant AGX-class compute, with the power draw, the heat, and the cost that come with it,” said Dr. Leaf Jiang, CEO and Founder of NODAR. “HDK Nano proves that same range and precision can run on just a fraction of the compute budget. That changes what’s possible for a robot or a drone that has to carry its own power supply.”
NODAR built HDK Nano for platforms where every watt and every gram of compute counts against runtime, payload, or flight time, including:
• Delivery robots, which need to spot obstacles well before contact on sidewalks and last-mile routes
• Inspection drones, where onboard compute weighs directly against flight time
• Warehouse AMRs, navigating open floors without cutting into battery runtime
• Agricultural robots, detecting obstacles and rows across open fields on constrained onboard systems
• Micromobility platforms, needing to see hundreds of meters ahead rather than just what’s directly in front of them
• Security and patrol robots, covering open lots and perimeters on battery-powered platforms
Each HDK Nano kit is built to order. NODAR works with customers to define baseline length and camera field of view for their specific application before shipping. The system uses NODAR’s continuous per-frame autocalibration, actively compensating for camera movement caused by vibration, temperature shifts, and mechanical drift so that depth measurements stay accurate without a rigid or hermetically sealed mount.
HDK Nano is available to order now starting at $9,900. A full technical datasheet, including camera specifications, mechanical drawings, and ordering information, is available on request.
