“At Noto, our mission is to end the mental health crisis by delivering world-class specialty therapy to every population that needs it,” said Stephen Smith, Co-Founder and CEO of Noto and NOCD. “Active military and Veterans with PTS are among the communities hit hardest by this crisis. That’s why we’re honored to partner with Dr. Bono, General Funk, General Garrett, Dr. Shulkin, General LeMaster, Bob Jansen and Al Reicheg — and I’m confident we can make a major difference together, given what we’ve proven by scaling NOCD on the Noto platform, the impact these leaders have had in supporting our nation’s military, and the incredible outcomes Rebound has already produced for trauma survivors.”
Vice Admiral Dr. Raquel C. Bono (retired), former Director of the Defense Health Agency, oversaw health care for millions of active-duty personnel, retirees, and their families. General Paul E. Funk II (retired) last served as Commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and previously led a 72-nation coalition against ISIS as Commander of Combined Joint Task Force–Operation Inherent Resolve. General Michael X. Garrett (retired) is the former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Forces Command, the Army’s largest command. They are joined by Dr. David Shulkin, the Ninth Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Major General Dennis LeMaster (retired), former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence; and former senior pharmaceutical executives Bob Jansen, CEO of Zensights, and Al Reicheg, CEO of Sea Change Healthcare Consulting. Collectively, the group spent their careers responsible for the health, care, and readiness of millions of Service Members and their families.
What drew them to Rebound is the company’s answer to a problem they know intimately: high-quality PTSD treatment is hard to reach for the people who need it most. Active Duty Service Members often can’t leave base to get care. Veterans in rural areas may be hours from a specialist. Rebound’s model removes that barrier—delivering specialty trauma treatment virtually, in all 50 states, so treatment reaches the Member rather than requiring the Member to travel to a specialty clinic. Moreover, Rebound is owned by Noto and scaled on its platform, the same infrastructure used to effectively scale NOCD for OCD and Related Disorders.
“The infrastructure the NOCD team built is what lets us deliver the best PTSD treatment there is at national scale, at the clinical standard it demands—when we treat someone, we do it the right way,” said Raeva Kumar, CEO and co-founder of Rebound. “Millions of Service Members and Veterans are suffering today, and they can’t wait for care that works. Those of us who have received effective treatment have a responsibility to the people still waiting in silence. These leaders have spent their careers getting care to this community, and there’s a great deal we intend to learn from them.”
Vice Admiral Dr. Raquel C. Bono, who joins the advisory board, said, “We are honored to continue to support those who have served and continue to serve our nation by ensuring that they have access to the highest standard of evidence-based PTS treatment. Rebound combines a network of exceptional trauma specialists with technology that helps people stay engaged in treatment when a provider isn’t available, no matter where they live. That’s the future of trauma care.”
Rebound identifies and engages Members with PTSD through content, community, and technology, then connects them to face-to-face care with full-time, Rebound therapists who are carefully selected and rigorously trained in Prolonged Exposure therapy—the gold-standard treatment for PTSD. Each Rebound Therapist then must test into the Rebound Network. Care includes continuous between-session support, creating a true 24/7/365 treatment model rather than a weekly appointment in isolation. The company is in-network with most major insurers and operates as a sister brand to NOCD on the Noto platform.
The model is delivering results. On average, Members receive an average of 13 sessions of PE—a full course of treatment—with 67% achieving clinically meaningful improvement in PTSD symptoms, defined as a ≥10-point reduction on the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), one of the most widely used measures of PTSD symptom severity.
“We know how to treat PTSD. The challenge is delivering those outcomes consistently, at scale, without compromising quality,” said Dr. Erin Berenz, co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer of Rebound. “That’s exactly the challenge NOCD has solved for OCD, and I’m thrilled to expand that model to Rebound and scale access to evidence-based PTSD treatment without sacrificing clinical excellence. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far, and having these advisors help shape what comes next is an extraordinary opportunity for Rebound and for the Service Members and Veterans we’re here to serve.”
The advisors will work with Noto and Rebound’s clinical and operating leadership to deepen the company’s ability to serve Active Duty, Veteran, and military-family populations.
